New This Season... Adult Skating!
Rideau Lakes Skating Club – AdultSkate Program (2023-2024 Pilot Program)
The Rideau Lakes Skating Club is happy to announce a pilot program for adults starting in October 2023. This program will be led by a Skate Canada Coach. This is an opportunity for us to offer ice specifically for individuals 18 years and older who are wanting to learn to skate for the first time, return to skating after an absence or continue their skating with a desire to reach new goals. This program has been created with adults in mind and will be supportive of the needs of the individuals on the ice. Skate Canada insurance and group lesson time are included in the program fee. The groups will focus on the fundamentals of skating while being fun, supportive and cooperative. We welcome participants of all levels. For beginner and intermediate skaters, CSA approved helmets will be required until you can complete the Star 5 CanSkate assessment. This is required for your insurance with Skate Canada. Progression will be based on individual needs, safety and abilities. For advanced skaters, this session is an opportunity to join a community of adult skaters while having fun on the ice. This program will promote physical and social health and wellness. The coach of the session will focus on skills such as skating forward & backward, stopping and gliding to more complex skills like forward and backward crosscuts, turning and edge development. Skills related to skaters' goals will also be worked into the lesson plans. We look forward to welcoming you on the ice!
